Oversized Streetwear in India: The Neolithic Fit, Fabric and Care Guide

How Neolithic oversized tees are cut, what 220 and 240 GSM cotton feels like, how to choose a size, and how to wash them.

An oversized tee looks simple. It is cut wider and longer than a regular fit, and it hangs off the shoulder and body instead of following it. Whether it works depends on three things: the cut, the cotton, and how you look after it. Here is how Neolithic Store builds its oversized tees, and how to get the most from them.

The cut

Every Neolithic tee is cut oversized, with a crew neck and short sleeves. Sizes run S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL and 4XL. The relaxed fit also gives the back print room to hang and be read. The size details on each product page show the measurements, so check them against a tee you already own before you choose.

The cotton

Neolithic tees are 100% cotton, bio-washed. Bio-washing is a finishing wash that softens the fabric, so the tee feels worn-in from the first day.

The weight comes in two grades, measured in GSM, grams per square metre of fabric:

  • 220 GSM is the lighter weight. It drapes and moves more, and it suits long, warm days.
  • 240 GSM is the heavier weight. It holds its shape and gives the oversized cut more structure.

Which weight a design uses is listed on its product page. Across the five collections, designs such as The Norns, Loki, He Never Put It Down. and Molon Labe are 220 GSM, and designs such as Hel, Fenrir, Sobek, Ah Puch and the whole Vedic Legends range are 240 GSM.

Cotton at 190 GSM or lower works better for overlock knit and a good yarn count: the seams sit flatter and the fabric feels finer.

The print

Most Neolithic tees are printed on black. Two Egypt Mythos tees, the Sigil of Chaos and the Sigil of Contained Chaos, are printed on deep forest green. The layout is consistent: a small mark on the chest, and the story on the back. The back print is the reason to choose the oversized cut.

Care

Machine wash at 30°C. As with any printed tee, turning it inside out before washing helps protect the print.

Choosing your first one

Pick the story first, then the weight. If you want the lighter cotton, choose from the 220 GSM designs. If you want more structure, choose from the 240 GSM designs.
