Before the Egyptians feared the crocodile, they worshipped it. Sobek — Lord of the Nile, the jaws that guarded the waters and the pharaoh alike. Power was not something he was given. The Nile gave Egypt everything — and it took just as freely.
Every year the river rose and made the desert bloom. And in that same water waited the crocodile, silent beneath the surface, older than the temples, patient as stone. The Egyptians watched it take men, cattle, and children without warning. They could have called it a monster.
Instead, they called it a god.
His name was Sobek.
They saw in the crocodile something they could not defeat, so they chose to revere it — the raw, unreasoning power of the river given a face and a name. Sobek was the strength of the Nile itself: fertility and destruction in the same body, the flood that feeds and the jaws that end. Pharaohs took his name to borrow his ferocity. His temples kept living crocodiles draped in gold, fed by priests, mummified like kings when they died.
He was not gentle, and he was not asked to be. He guarded the waters. He guarded the throne. He stood at the edge between the world that feeds and the water that swallows, and he answered to no one.
The river does not explain itself. Neither did he.

Care
Machine wash cold, inside out, with similar colours. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Iron on reverse if needed. The fabric softens with each wash but holds its form.
