Egypt had a god of chaos, and did not banish him.

Seth — lord of storms, of the desert, of everything that resists order — was given a place in the pantheon and a post no gentler god could hold: the prow of the sun-barque, where each night he alone was violent enough to drive back the serpent of annihilation. Chaos was not cast out. It was put to work.

The piece carries that bargain. On the back, Seth stands upright in profile — jackal-headed, every muscle drawn, his staff planted beside him — with a slash of red torn behind him: disorder held at the edge of form, destruction mastered rather than unleashed. On the chest, his head alone, the ear and brow touched in red. What is contained is never tame.

Ink and oxblood on Bone White — ceremonial, deliberate, older than its owner.
